The “MEM Youth After School Mentoring Program” is an integral part of UniverCity Family Community Development Corporation (CDC), which is committed to empowering and nurturing youth in the MEM community. As an organization deeply rooted in community-driven initiatives, UniverCity Family CDC is dedicated to fostering positive change and creating a supportive environment for young individuals to thrive beyond regular school hours.
Objectives
- Homework HelpStudents get support with daily assignments, test preparation, and study skills so they can stay on track and build confidence in the classroom.
- Mentorship OpportunitiesYouth are paired with caring adult mentors who offer guidance, encouragement, and a positive example as they set goals and make healthy choices.
- Literacy EnrichmentReading and writing activities help students strengthen comprehension and vocabulary while building a lifelong love of learning.
- Violent Crime InterventionA safe, structured place to be after school, along with conflict resolution and decision-making skills, helps keep youth on a positive path and away from violence.
- Nutritional MealsStudents receive healthy meals and snacks so they have the energy to focus, learn, and grow.
